Building a sustainable future in a rapidly changing AI landscape

AI, autonomous systems and software are key enabling technologies for a sustainable society. The WASP Industry Days conference is this year taking its stance in the rapidly changing conditions for technology research and innovation and their implications on a sustainable future.

During two days, researchers and industry representatives are invited to enjoy WASP:s unique research environments and to discuss how state-of-the art research results may be boosted through successful collaboration.

WARA Robotics and its main industrial partner ABB is hosting WASP Industry Days 2023. ABB’s intelligent robotics solutions support businesses by increasing productivity, reducing waste, and maximizing efficiency, contributing to a more sustainable world.

The conference is held at Västerås Congress on 6th-7th of November. The registration opens on September 8.

Day 1 – WING Day

WING Day (WASP Industry Networking Gathering Day) is a forum where company representatives meet WASP’s researchers and doctoral students to identify common research interests in group discussions and in spontaneous mingles. Presentations by international and national key experts from industry and academia add insights to the exchanges. The day concludes with a conference dinner.

Day 2 – WARA and Expo

A vibrant company exhibition and demonstrations are the focus of day two. We spotlight the WASP Research Arenas, WARA, and the opportunities for collaboration they offer. All the WASP Research Arenas will be on-site to demonstrate ongoing projects and discuss collaboration possibilities.

This year, special attention goes to the WARA Robotics, driven by ABB. As a participant to the WASP Industry Days, you will meet the core team and visit the WARA Robotics facility. In addition, you will visit the ABB Robotics Experience Center. The 1,000 square meter demo, test and training center is located in ABB Robotics’ headquarters in Västerås. It consists of more than 25 robots, both collaborative robots and traditional industrial robots. You can also experience manufacturing environments in a virtual reality in RobotStudio to understand how VR and digital twins can be helpful in, for example, virtual commissioning.

Who can participate?

Companies and organizations with research activities in Sweden (with or without ongoing WASP collaboration), WASP researchers including postdocs, and WASP PhD students are welcome to participate in the WASP Industry Days.
