PhD student position in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (RAI)(https://www.fieldrobotics.eu/) based at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.

Subject description

Robotics and artificial intelligence aim to develop novel robotic systems that are characterized by advanced autonomy for improving the ability of robots to interact with the surrounding environment and humans during the execution of specific tasks.

Project description

The vision of RAI is aiming in closing the gap from theory to real life, while the team has a strong expertise in field robotics. As a PhD student you will have the opportunity to contribute within one or more of these focus areas, engaging in both theoretical and experimental research in:

Autonomy with collaborative intelligence
– Collaborative task and motion planning
– Multi-agent decision-making and coordination
– Distributed coverage, exploration and source seeking
– Cooperative manipulation and interaction

Data-driven and learning based control
– Data-driven adaptive motion planning
– Multi-agent reinforcement learning
– Cognitive reasoning, symbolic knowledge representation
– Generative AI in robotics

Resilient autonomy for extreme environments
– Risk-aware navigation in unstructured environments
– Motion planning with embodied mobility
– Floating based manipulation
– Resilient and self-recovering autonomy
