Linköping University seeks a PhD student in Computer Science formally based at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA). The position will be within a broader project on integrating machine learning techniques into a modern AI planning system.

Project description

You will carry out research supervised by Daniel Gnad, Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence at LiU, and co-supervised by Johannes Fichte, Associate Professor in Theoretical Computer Science at LiU. The research for the advertised position will be within the WASP PhD project ”Model-Based Attention for Scalable AI Planning”, where we will integrate machine learning techniques into a modern AI planning system. The project will involve both theoretical and experimental work.

We seek a highly motivated doctoral student eager to make a difference in artificial intelligence. We expect candidates to have previous experience in areas such as automated planning, reinforcement learning, logic or combinatorial optimization.

Workplace description

You will belong to the Machine Reasoning Lab within the AIICS division (Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems). For details click here.

As a PhD student you will also be part of WASP’s national graduate school. The Graduate School within WASP is dedicated to provide the skills needed to analyze, develop, and contribute to the interdisciplinary area of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software. Through an ambitious program with research visits, partner universities, and visiting lecturers, the graduate school actively supports forming a strong multi-disciplinary and international professional network between PhD-students, researchers and industry. Read more about the Graduate School here.

When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies. More information about the doctoral studies at each faculty is available at Doctoral studies at Linköping University.
