AstraZeneca engagement day 2025.

Registration opens in April.

Welcome to the WARA Medicine Engagement Day at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, an event designed to strengthen and increase collaborations between AstraZeneca and the WASP community. The Engagement Day will be held as a half‑day hybrid meeting. In‑person participation is strongly encouraged, but virtual attendance will also be possible.

The program will begin with a networking lunch, followed by a general introduction to AstraZeneca and its research environment. The afternoon will then continue with three parallel workshops, each highlighting key areas for current and future collaboration.

Parallel workshops

1. Robotics in the pharmaceutical industry: Joint workshop with WARA Robotics
This workshop focuses on robotics and automation in pharmaceutical R&D, connecting real laboratory challenges with ongoing research within WARA Robotics. Through concrete use cases in autonomous labs and AI‑enabled experimentation, the session aims to identify high‑impact academic–industry collaboration opportunities.

2. Scaling foundation models in life sciences
Scaling foundation models in life sciences requires more than compute. This workshop addresses the need for high‑quality data, domain‑aware modeling, and methods to manage noise, domain drift, and multimodal complexity. Topics span computational chemistry, in vitro safety multi‑omics, and in vivo pathology, highlighting the importance of close collaboration between academia and industry to advance medical AI.

3. Preparing clinical data for future medical research
This session will cover AstraZeneca clinical trial data for secondary use, including scope, ongoing work, and opportunities for future collaboration. It will also explore PROMISE data and potential interaction points between PROMISE and AstraZeneca clinical trials, with a forward‑looking research perspective.
We look forward to a stimulating day of discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaboration building.
