The WASP Winter Conference 2026 brought together more than 600 researchers, PhD students, faculty members, and industry representatives for three days of exchange, inspiration, and collaboration in Örebro January 13-15.

As one of the most important annual events within the WASP community, the conference serves as a key forum for sharing new research, building interdisciplinary connections, and discussing the future of AI, autonomous systems, and software development.

This year’s program featured keynote talks by internationally recognized speakers Serge Belongie (University of Copenhagen), Henny Admoni (Carnegie Mellon University), Adam Tornhill (CodeScene), and Holger H. Hoos (RWTH Aachen University). Their presentations explored topics such as generative AI, human-centered robotics, responsible AI deployment, and automated machine learning, offering participants both technical depth and broader reflections on the societal role of AI.

In addition to the keynote program, the conference highlighted ongoing WASP research through a series of scientific presentations and poster sessions. These sessions provided a platform for PhD students and faculty to present their work, receive feedback, and engage in dialogue across disciplines.

The Winter Conference also serves as an important moment to recognize excellence within the WASP community. This year, participants celebrated award recipients in several categories, as well as the graduating WASP PhD students, whose accomplishments mark important milestones both for the individuals and for the program as a whole.

The conference once again demonstrated the strength and diversity of the WASP research environment. More than a traditional academic conference, the event functions as a shared space for collaboration, mentoring, and long-term relationship-building between academia and industry.
