From July 1st, 2023, Pontus de Laval is appointed Chair of the WASP Board of Directors. He succeeds Sara Mazur who is ending her engagement in WASP due to new assignments.
Pontus de Laval is well familiar with WASP, being engaged in the initiation of the program and one of the initial members of the board during 2015-2019. He has a long experience working in Saab, latest as Chief Technology Officer from 2005 until 2019. Pontus de Laval is today a senior advisor to Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and is engaged in the boards of various companies and the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology (WACQT).
– There are exciting years coming ahead for WASP and I am really looking forward to leading the work of the board through them. The large pool of academic competence and knowledge and the many collaborations with industry and society that has been built up by the program during its first stages are fantastic. My aim is to keep developing these efforts and make sure they come to the benefit of Sweden, our academia and companies, and our society, says Pontus de Laval.
Succeeding Sara Mazur
Since the beginning of 2020, Sara Mazur has served as Chair of the WASP board. Between 2015 and 2019, she was co-chair and member of the board. She is now leaving her appointment in the program for a new role as Executive Director of Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
– It has been a true privilege working with WASP. I would like to thank the board and the management for all the hard work, and all the passionate people in the community that constitute WASP and make it the great program that it is. I’m very proud of what we have achieved this far, and it is most exciting to see what the future holds.
