A workshop between WASP and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore will take place in Stockholm in October. In March 2017 a delegation of 10 senior WASP researchers, WASP chair Mille Millnert, program director Lars Nielsen and representatives from SAAB and Autoliv visited NTU in Singapore. Hosted by Professor Bertil Andersson, president of NTU, and Professor Lam Khin Yong, vice president of research, all the participating sites in WASP were represented. As part of the internationalization program of WASP the visit aimed to establish exchanges on both the scientific and managerial level between WASP and NTU.

The visit was formed around a joint workshop where WASP core projects, industry engagement and the research arenas were presented. NTU experts were invited to present and discuss in each session, which lead to fruitful discussions on joint projects and common areas of interest. The visit also concluded in a signed memorandum of understanding between NTU and WASP. At the visit, a workshop in Sweden was envisioned to follow up on the joint project ideas that were identified during the stay at NTU and to further develop the exchange of ideas between the university and WASP.

The follow up workshop will take place in Stockholm 18-19 of October, including a visit to Norrköping Visualization Center on October 19th. Prominent representatives from NTU include Professor Bertil Andersson and Professor Lam Khin Yong. Mr. Marcus Wallenberg will be present and give a keynote address. New topics that will be covered in the form of presentations and initial discussions are ‘Software in Autonomous Systems’ and ‘Cryptography/Cybersecurity’. In parallel breakout sessions, the valuable work on the areas highlighted at the workshop at NTU last spring will continue. The aim is to formulate common research topics for the purposes of study and research exchange, including possibilities for PhD student guest research positions.
