Jan Bosch is a Professor at Chalmers University of Technology and the Director of Software Center, a strategic partner-funded collaboration between 17 large European companies (e.g., Ericsson, Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, Saab Defense, Scania, Siemens and Bosch) and five Swedish universities, focused on digitalization. Professor Bosch joined WASP in 2015.
Earlier I was theme leader of the software engineering theme; Also, I was WASP PhD student supervisor for David Issa Mattos and I am currently advisor for WASP PhD student Teodor Fredriksson.
It is the largest and most encompassing research initiative ever in Sweden. Of course I want to be part of that!
Great network of researchers and companies and an amazing experience for PhD candidates. I wish I would have had access to this during my doctoral studies.
Software engineering, but during recent years I have started to work more on AI Engineering, i.e., the engineering solutions required to successfully deploy ML/DL models in industrial production settings. Our work on experimentation, A/B testing, multi-armed bandits and reinforcement learning in industrial settings is, in my view, quite relevant and timely.
I post a weekly blog entry on my LinkedIn profile as well as on my personal website (see links below).
Software and ML/DL models are critical for a modern society. Ensuring the benefits provided by digital technologies and keeping our industry in the forefront is critical to protect and expand our leading position.
