Emelie Engström

Senior Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, Lund University

Meet Emelie Engström, a WASP affiliated senior lecturer in Software Engineering at Lund University who joined WASP in 2019.

What is your position/role in WASP?

Assistant supervisor of two PhD students within WASP Graduate School.

Why did you choose to join WASP?

I was invited and found the projects relevant and interesting.

What are the benefits you see in WASP?

WASP provides a very good environment for PhD students with many opportunities to network with peers and meet relevant experts within Sweden and abroad.

Briefly describe your research topic.

My topic is empirical software engineering (SE). I study and improve SE practices in the field. My main focus is how to provide operative decision support for quality assurance activities.

In what way can your research be of importance to our society in the future?

As our society gets increasingly dependent on software and our software systems continue to grow in scale and complexity, there is an urgent need for tools and practices supporting the application of rigorous monitoring processes and assuring the quality of those systems.
