Dániel Varró is a WASP Professor in Software Technology for Complex Software Systems at the Linköping University and an Adjunct Professor at McGill University. Professor Varró started his WASP Professorship in January 2023.
I am a Professor at the Department of Computer and Information Science at Linköping University (LiU), recruited thanks to the support from WASP.
WASP provides an excellent and unique opportunity that allows me to spend more time on important and timely research challenges in software engineering.
To carry out cutting-edge research, WASP offers an attractive funding package, a strong network for new PhD students, and ample opportunities to collaborate with leading researchers and innovative companies within Sweden.
My research is mainly related to the digital design and assurance of critical autonomous software-intensive systems, which is at the intersection of software engineering, cyber-physical systems and machine learning. I am also interested in how to provide quality assurance for machine learning programs.
While advanced machine learning algorithms are increasingly used in various autonomous systems, such as self-driving cars, drones or vessels, the safe operation of such ML-driven systems cannot be certifiably guaranteed as of today. My research will improve the quality and safety assurance for such systems in order to increase human trust in a justifiable way.
