Postdoc position in medical image processing and deep learning formally based at the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, Linköping University. The position is connected to the Center for Medical Imaging and Visualization (CMIV).
This position is part of a joint collaboration between the two largest research programs in Sweden, the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) and the SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS), with the ultimate goal of solving ground-breaking research questions across disciplines. Within the WASP-DDLS financed project “Huge Complex Diagnostic Imaging Data”, two postdoc will work jointly on a pipeline for the generation of personalized models from huge complex imaging data.
Your duties
The use of CT imaging of the heart is quickly increasing in cardiac diagnostics. Especially using the latest equipment, extremely high-resolution 4D data of the heart can be obtained in a few seconds. Currently, clinical analysis of this data mainly focusses on anatomical assessment. More advanced data analysis, assessing cardiac function, is hampered by the large size of the data.
The postdoc in this announcement will focus on development of methods that support an efficient image processing of the cardiac CT data for advanced assessment of the functioning of the beating heart. The emphasis will be the use of high-resolution time-resolved spectral data of the heart that will be acquired using a novel photon-counting detector Computer Tomography (PCCT). Based on this data, time-varying data representing the hearts anatomy, its dynamics, the blood flow, and myocardial strain will be obtained.
Responsibilities include development of methods for segmentation and analysis of PCCT data. Publication of the work in scientific journals is also included in the assignment.
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
