The successful candidate will pursue a PhD project centered around combinatorics and its interactions with artificial intelligence and statistics.

Our understanding of complex combinatorial structures, such as graphs or networks, has long played a central role in artificial intelligence. In recent decades, modern combinatorial theory has expanded beyond graph theory and strengthened its connections to fields such as algebra and geometry. A central goal of this project will be to broaden our understanding of how combinatorics and its interactions with algebra and geometry contribute to the modern theory of artificial intelligence.

Students interested in fields related to the following are encouraged to apply: combinatorics, artificial intelligence, statistics, graph theory, graphical models, causality, discrete geometry, algebra, geometry, algebraic/geometric/enumerative combinatorics.
