Linköping University and the Computer Vision Laboratory seeks an assistant professor in machine learning with a focus on computational photography.

Position description

CVL is a vibrant research environment with four faculty members, five researchers, eighteen PhD students, and several adjunct researchers. CVL conducts research and education in machine learning for computer vision at the undergraduate, advanced, and PhD levels. For further details, see https://liu.se/organisation/liu/isy/cvl.

CVL consists currently of the following research units:

  • 3D Geometry
  • 3D Motion
  • Remote Sensing
  • Visual Learning Theory
  • Visual Perception

Researchers and academic staff at Swedish universities retain the rights to their own research results, even when these are patentable. This system is known as the “teachers’ exemption” (Lärarundantaget) and differs from the system at universities in other countries.

As an assistant professor, you will work with machine learning with a particular focus on computational photography. The specific focus is on research and development of methods and mathematical analysis relevant to perception, image formation, and computer graphics. The general focus is on research and development of algorithms, methods, and theories aimed at better understanding the properties and underlying mechanisms within statistical and deep learning-based systems also in the presence of simulated data. As an assistant professor, you are also expected to explore application areas within material and life science as well as security and digital forensics.

Join us and contribute to our dynamic team, participate in seminars and workshops, and collaborate on exciting research projects. You will have the opportunity to lead your own research unit (start package included), engage in WASP’s graduate school, and attract external research funding.
