We are now offering up to 22 industrial doctoral student positions within Autonomous Systems and Software at the five partner universities Chalmers, KTH, Linköping University, Lund University and Umeå University.
The graduate school within WASP is dedicated to provide the skills needed to analyze, develop, and contribute to the interdisciplinary area of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software. Through an ambitious program with research visits, partner universities, and visiting lecturers, the graduate school actively supports forming a strong multi-disciplinary and international professional network between PhD-students, researchers and industry.
Guidelines for WASP Industrial doctoral student positions
There are a set of guidelines for WASP Industrial PhD students that are important to consider during the application process. The guidelines (in Swedish) can be found here.
It is considered an advantage if the candidates are strongly motivated to demonstrate their research results, e.g., in the WASP Research Arenas (WARA).
Application process
The application should be written in a dedicated application form and submitted jointly by the
industry and university. The form is available here.
The form together with requested CVs and a course transcript for the industrial doctoral student, as stated in the form, should be sent to position@WASP-Sweden.se no later than 2019-04-26.

Doctorial Studies in the WASP program
Wallenberg Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is Sweden’s largest ever individual research program, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans, adapting to their environment through sensors, information and knowledge, forming intelligent systems-of-systems enabled by software. The vision of WASP is Excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software for the benefit of Swedish industry.
The graduate school provides added value on top of the existing PhD programs at the partner universities, providing unique opportunities for students who are dedicated to achieving international research excellence with industrial relevance.
As a PhD student in the autonomous systems and software track (WASP-AS) of the WASP graduate school you are required to follow courses on Autonomous Systems, Software Engineering and Cloud Computing, and a project course. In addition to this eight courses in AI and Machine Learning from the artificial intelligence and machine learning track (WASP-AI) of the graduate school are elective. The software research that is considered feasible in WASP is defined here. More information about the WASP graduate school is available here.
