AI4X – Collecting Ideas and Identifying Challenges for Future AI Research in Sweden
AI4X is a series of one day conferences on the theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its development and application in different sectors in Sweden. The conferences are organized by WASP AI funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
AI is expected to have a profound impact on our society. It has made important progress during the last decades and there is now an accelerating transfer of research result into commercial applications. At the same time there are huge needs for more competence in the area and for further research and development.
Sweden is a technologically advanced country with a high level of digital maturity. It is essential that we as a country take advantage of the opportunities provided by AI. To do this we need to seriously strengthen the competence, research and development of AI in Sweden. These conference are a first step towards this.
The purpose of AI4X is to bring together people from companies, universities, and the public sector to present and discuss the current and planned use of AI. The goal is to get a better understanding of the current status of AI in Sweden, its challenges and opportunities. Based on the conferences a report will be written summarizing what companies and organizations are using AI today, what they expect to use AI for in the near future, what AI techniques and technologies they are using, what applications they are using these for, and the challenges and needs they see for the future.
To achieve this, we invite organizations in different sectors to give short pitches of the application and development of AI in their organization. The sectors should be interpreted broadly and inclusively. Presentations are intended from participants who either develop, apply or plan to apply AI in their organization. These are presented to all participants followed by a poster session with more in-depth discussions. At the poster session there will also be researchers presenting their expertise in the area to provide a basis for potential future collaborations.
Dates and Themes:
Place: City Conference Center Folkets Hus, Barnhusgatan 12-14, Stockholm.
Registration: free of charge, including lunch and coffee (sek 500 for no-show)
Participants may briefly present their organization’s current and future development and application of AI and their needs related to AI research and education. We reserve the right to limit the number of presentations to at most one per organization.
Participants that expressed the interest to present will get a possibility to present both on the scene and via a poster presentation.
The Report: AI4X – Collecting Ideas and Identifying Challenges for Future AI Research in Sweden
A report that surveys the condition of AI and its use within various sectors in Sweden has now been published. The report is based on results from the five days of talks in spring 2018.
With contributions from 195 speakers, with 100 representatives from industry and 95 from the academic world, the report provides an overall image of how AI is currently used in Sweden. The report also discusses how work in AI should develop, and makes recommendations at the national level for how the academic world and industry together can ensure that Sweden remains at the forefront of research and development in artificial intelligence.
